I am the Owner and President of Handicomp, Inc., a computer software company catering to golf administrators and the golfers they serve. With a rich history that dates back to its establishment in 1968 by my parents, I have been immersed in the industry for most of my life. My extensive knowledge encompasses many aspects of club and golf shop management. Additionally, I have fostered valuable relationships with prominent organizations such as PGA Sections, Amateur Associations, and Golf Course Owners Associations.
Having long been stationed at the convergence of golf and technology, I have personally witnessed its evolution. From the early stages of computerizing the golf industry, I have been intricately involved in conceiving, developing, implementing, and supporting a wide array of systems, including golf shop management, club management, point-of-sale, accounting, tee reservations, golf handicapping, tournament management, and league management systems. This journey has taken me from the era of standalone computers to the realm of networks like UNIX, Novell, and Windows, and further to the era of the Internet, smartphone applications and virtualization. Clearly, AI is next.
This wealth of experience grants me a distinctive perspective on the golf business. It is with this insight that I present this blog, hoping that you find it enjoyable and informative.
Stu Healey, Owner/President, Handicomp, Inc.

2023 – Celebrating 50 Years!
I earned my first paycheck from Handicomp in 1973. My job was to punch strap holes in plastic handicap cards. With the money I earned I was able to purchase a Schwinn Continental 10 speed bike. I remember it cost $118.

I’ve always been captivated by technology, and one particular story that left a lasting impression on me from back in the 1st or 2nd grade, was the narrative portrayed in Disney’s “Paul Bunyan.” You can watch here and witness its relevance to this blog.
